DIY Festive Holiday Wreath// Homemade Christmas 4

DIY Festive Holiday Wreath// Homemade Christmas 4

A few weeks ago the munchkin and I were in Wal-Mart, scooping out Christmas decorations. We both instantly fell in love with this gorgeous Christmas ornament door wreath...until I saw the price... $69.99.

Seriously? At Wal-Mart?

Once I recovered from my mini aneurysm, I decided there must be another way. So I took to the internet. And what do you know, there were quite a few options for a frugal mama like myself. So I gathered some ideas, and then made a few additional changes to further reduce the cost. End result? I was able to create this festive Christmas wreath you see here, with $7.00! Score!

All the supplies can be purchased at the Dollar Tree, however, I found that using the 50% off coupons at Hobby Lobby, Michaels and A.C. Moore made some of the supplies even cheaper.

For this wreath you will need:
  • A wire hanger
  • A pair of pilers
  • Around 50-80 Christmas bulb ornaments ( you can get packets of 12-15 at the Dollar Tree)
  • A Hook (to hang the wreath)
  • A Bow
First, take the wire hanger and bend it so that it forms a circle. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Next, take the top pieces off the bulbs and glue them so that they are extra durable. Note: this is just a precaution to keep the bulbs from falling off.

Now you going to take the bulbs and feed the hole through the wire hanger. Keep going until all the patches are covered. Add in different sizes and colors for a variety. Finally, top it off with a festive bow. Now step back and admire your super easy, super inexpensive holiday door wreath.

If you decide to give this one a go, be sure to swing by and leave a link so I can showcase your awesomeness. Questions, comments, concerns? Leave me a comment and I'll get right back to you.

Merry Christmas from our home to yours!

  1. $70 for an ornament wreath?? That's insane. I do think the ornament-type wreaths are my favorite of the popular wreaths going around this year, and it doesn't look too hard to make at all!

    1. And that was at Wal-Mart, you don't even want to know how much the ones were at Macy's...

  3. Wow this is awesome. So you strung all of the bulbs threw the wire? I'm such a visual learner lol

    1. Yes ma'am! Sorry, I was so busy crafting, I hadn't I forgot to take a photo of me stringing the bulbs onto the hanger. Fail!! I'm thinking about doing another so that I can show that step. It's super easy though. Once I finished gluing the caps in place it took me about 10 minutes to finish up. And that's mostly because I'm a perfectionist. Let me know if you decide to give it a go!

  5. I'm going to try this. Right now there is a wreath holder on our door without a wreath, LOL!!! If I can do it for $7 or less and it comes out at least half as good as the pick I will post and tag you on IG. This will be my project for the week. Thanks for sharing!!!
