Things I'm Loving Lately

Things I'm Loving Lately

I'm so in love with this song by John Legend.

The first time I heard it, actual tears welled up in my eyes. It was like he had written this song especially for Mr. A and I. And those are the best kinds of songs. The ones that give you goosebumps because you can relate to every word. I've always thought John Legend was extraordinary, but he has taken it to another level with this song. By the way, apparently that is his wife alongside him in the video. That makes me love him even more.

One of my favorite bloggers recently opened her own shop. She is absolutely brilliant. One of the most talented seamstresses and writers I've stumbled across. Ever. She gets bonus point for having a beautiful love story and adorable kiddo. I've been surfing her site for the past few days trying to quell the desire to just buy all the things. So far I've been unsuccessful. But can you really blame me? Is this not gorgeous?
Personally, I think the tagline for her shop should be: Iviebaby, Making Moms Everywhere Want to Have More Babies Since 2011. It seems about right.

Last night Mr. A threatened confiscate my credit card if I can't reign it in. I suppose I should probably tell him about the extra money from blogging that I have squirreled away...

I found this great article about the lost art of love letters. I think we've all gotten used to doing everything in an instant, sending emails, texts, paying bills. We've forgotten how to slow down and savor life just a bit more. I'm going to try to make it a point to write a love letter to Mr. A every now and again. Sometimes I do a terrible job at letting him know how absolutely amazing I think he is. I'm just lucky he puts up with me.

I've started reading more. I just finished up Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. Without giving too much away, I will say I sobbed my entire way through the final few chapters of this book. And then promptly went out and purchased the sequel. I haven't been brave enough to read it yet. I'll let you know what I think about it when I finish.

I recently watched this movie called Austenland, and loved every second of it. It was an independent film that went directly to DVD, so it didn't get much coverage, but it was brilliant. The film is about an Austen obsessed young women (Keri Russel)  who travels to an Austen-themed getaway destination in search of her real life Mr. Darcy. The film received terrible ratings, but I never did care much for people trying to tell me what I should or shouldn't like. Plus, I've always been a sucker for a man with an accent. This movie definitely delivers.

Now that you've read all about my recent loves lately, what have you been loving? Books, movies, articles? Leave me a comment so I can see what you've been up to lately.

  1. I agree with you, John Legend is some kind of wonderful. I love all of his music. I've tried to get into reading lately. I've been yearning for something more productive to do while my daughter naps instead of being glued to tv.

    1. The man is beautiful!

And yes, Netflix has made it hard to be productive when the kiddos are asleep! If you ever get some free time you should head to a local bookstore or library. I've started taking a "mommy break" once a week to go to a bookstore and unwind. This way there are no televisions to distract me!
