How to Have the Ultimate Water Fight Date Night with your Spouse

Step One: Stock up on water gun paraphernalia. Bonus points if you snag a super sweet end of the season sale.
Step Two: Stock up on refreshments and goodies (FYI, Publix currently has an awesome sale on Minute Maid Lemonade & FUZE® tea, but more on that later)
Step Three: Set up an adorable refreshment stand before the craziness ensues
Step Four: Leave him a note to let him know what's in store.
Step Five: Instantly regret your decision to encourage a water fight date night with someone who has military training.
Step Six: Lose horribly
Step Seven: End your water gun fight with a truce because you're both hungry and thirsty
Step Eight: Eat, drink and be merry.

They say the secret to a long-lasting relationship is making sure you find a partner you can be silly with, and be silly with them for the rest of your lives. Last week, I decided to heed that advice and instigated an all-out water fight date night with Mr. A.

I waited until he left for work, waving him off, and blowing him a kiss. Unbeknownst to him, I was in the midst of conducting and executing plans for water gun domination with military-like precision. As soon as the car disappeared from view. I hopped in the car and headed to the stores to grab a few things.

First stop: Publix, where I caught an awesome sale on Minute Maid Lemonade and FUZE Tea.

Remember those sweet savings I mentioned earlier? This month, save $1 when you buy any (2) 2-liter Minute Maid drinks using their in-store coupon. And as a bonus, earn $1 on 12-pack, 12oz cans of FUZE Tea via Ibotta. You can claim your offer here!

Of course while I was at Publix, I grabbed a few other lemonade stand refreshments. The beauty of Publix is unlike many other grocery store chains, you don't have to sign up for their customer loyalty program to receive deals. Everyone who walks through the door receives the same savings. No muss, no fuss, no forgetting your cards at home. You can find you Publix store using the Publix Store Locator!

Next, I hit up a few more stores where I stocked up on water guns and balloons.

Finally I headed home and started scouring my crafts crates for some cute lemonade stand decor. Luckily, I enjoy hosting summer parties and gatherings so I have a nice stock of table cloths and other cute summer decor on hand for occasions just like this.

After rounding up all the essentials, I went to work putting together my lemonade stand.

This was actually my first lemonade stand, and I was pretty proud of the results. I feel like the recipe for a Lemonade Stand is pretty simple. Provide LOTS of Lemonade. Sprinkle in a few lemons for garnishing. Add a few snacks. And if you live in the South, where tea is basically it's own food group, be sure to add a few cans of FUZE Tea.

The hardest part of all of this was having to wait for Mr. A to get home. When the car pulled up, I grabbed my water gun and headed to the backyard. A few minutes later my husband emerged, dressed for the occasion and armed with his water gun. For more than an hour, we systematically hunted each other down (clearly one of us was better at this than the other) and engaged in an all-out water fight date night.

Once all the water gun festivities were done, we headed to the lemonade stand to cool down. I also had one more surprise in store for my husband-- a homemade lemonade smoothie.

The recipe is super simple, but incredibly delicious.

1 cup of Minute Maid Lemonade
1 frozen banana
1 5 oz cup of lemon yogurt

Optional: Lemons for garnishing.

All and all I'd say this was one of the most memorable date nights we've had in a while. Movies and restaurants are fun, but squirting your significant other in the face with a water gun is priceless.
