The Importance of Being Reese: July 2012

Let's Hear it for the Boys!

As women, it's not uncommon for us to harbor unrealistic crushes on men we know we'll never get with. I suppose this extends to all people in general, because for the past two years, James has been touting about how one day Marisa Tomei is going to wake up and realize what she's been missing ::Crickets chirping:: Riiiigggghhhttt. You can see how overly concerned I am.

Still, as quick as I am to provide a torrential downpour on his parade, I still have hopes that one day Will Smith will divorce Jada, and show up outside my house with a dozen roses and a rock large enough to rival Beyonce's. Hey a girl can dream can't she??

So anyhow, while James is playing x-box and shouting obscenities at the television, I figured now is as good as time as any to take some much needed girl time, enjoy a nice glass of wine and surf the web for some hotties.

Here's a list of my pick of the 10 sexiest celebrity men

Anderson Cooper- I know, I know I've heard the news, but it doesn't matter. He's still just downright sexy to me. Between that super smart and witty personality and those adorable baby blues, you can't help but to love him.

Will Smith- I'm a sucker for a guy who can make me laugh. The muscles are a nice bonus too.

Channing Tatum- Two words, eye candy! So much so that I'm totally willing to overlook those ears :0

The Rock- I'm typically more attracted to men who have larger brain muscles that actual muscles, but this man is an exception.

Tom Hardy- Just saw him in "This Means War" and fell in love with his character. This man is a sexy British Beast. I do love a man with an accent.

Idris Elba- He is gorgeous. Bonus, I never see him in the tabloids, or running around with his pants dragging the ground and tear drop tattoos on his face.

Ryan Goslin- I'm not going to lie, after I watched The Notebook I was pretty pissed that Noah was able to recreate Allie's dream home after her telling him only once what she would like it to look like. Whereas I've repeatedly told James what color I would like the wedding to be, and if I asked him tonight what that color was, he wouldn't be able to tell me to save his life. Men!!

Matt Bomer- He has Christian Gray written all over him. And those eyes!

Shemar Moore- *Sigh* He's just soooo pretty.

Jensen Ackles- Too tell you the truth, when I first started watching Supernatural, I was all about Sam, but eventually Dean's roguish personality and extreme sarcasm won me over.

Of course topping this list, is my wonderful fiance, who refuses to let me include photo's of him in this post. Something about not wanting a future employer to see this. Whatever.

Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoyed.

One Year Old in A Flash...Two Months Later

I know, I know, I am officially the worlds worst mommy ever. In fact, I should just retire my mommy card now. My daughter is almost 15 months old, and I'm just getting around to posting photo's from her first party.

After months of debate (and by debate I mean me saying what I wanted and James realizing that he wanted to sleep on his cozy Vera Wang mattress and not on the couch), we finally settled on a pretty neat theme for her birthday. The theme was "One Year Old in a Flash." I'm not a fan of the whole Disney Princess or Micky Mouse theme because they're a bit overdone for my taste, so this was perfect. Basically the only decorations were photo's of Jasmine. Of course we had a few camera props laying around just for an added touch. And we even set up a photo display table with pictures of Jasmine scattered about.

Before you guys dive into the good stuff, let me explain the photo's you are about to view. Our little Bean is about as mixed as they come. As I like to say, she is the best of three worlds. Those worlds being White, African American and Korean. According to Korean tradition, on a child's 1st birthday, they are to be dressed in traditional Korean attire and placed in front of a table filled with various knickknacks and food. Then they are left to decide which items to pick up. Usually the child ends up doing something related to the first item they pick up.

Jasmine (after some guidance and encouragement from mommy) picked up the gavel first. This indicates that she will possibly be a judge one day. Which is awesome for me, because I have every intention of living in a nice senior citizen home in right on the coast in Tampa, and those things ain't cheap, so it's nice to know that my daughter will be able to afford to set her mommy up in some pretty sweet digs...Just sayin'

Anyhow, the rest of the photo's are pretty self-explanatory. Enjoy!

Sponsor Spotlight: Natalia Weber

Hi everyone,
Let me introduce myself. I am not a hipster or a stay-at-home-mom, but I kind of want to be both. So I started my blog as an outlet  both for creativity and for stories about life. I would love to meet new people that share any common interest with me!

I'm Natalia Werber, age 22. Married to Justin, who perpetually acts 13, but I fell for it. We currently live in Boise, Idaho as we finish up our final year of college! I'm 5'2", natural red head, freckles everywhere. I love making up stories, sewing, reading fiction, and car singing.

Here are a few other things I love:

 My husband

Ultimately though, this is what I'm all about:
Jesus is my number one passion and the reason for everything I try to be in life.
I long to be closer to my creator by creating things myself.
I love to see the beauty in the world and appreciate God even more for that.
I believe that God created all things and can do all things.
I believe that He granted us free will so that we can choose to follow Him.
I believe that He loves everyone unconditionally and has a grand plan for everyone if we choose His way of life.
More than anything, I believe that He sent His son to die on the cross for us and save us from our sins.

If you want to read more about me, and my life, please feel free to swing by my blog.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Bonus! I've got a great giveaway going on at my blog right now.

A Weekend in the Life of A Pinterest Addict

As many of you already know, weekends are usually a time to cram in all the family time that you missed out during the hectic week. For us, weekends are typically spent in either one of our tiny vehicles heading somewhere to visit someone. This weekend I finally managed to convince James that we all needed a bit of down time. Which, as it turns out, is a bit boring. Nonetheless, this downtime gave me a chance to complete a few pinterest projects I've had my eyes on.  And since my oh-so wonderful daughter decided to destroy my jewelry armoire a few days ago, my little pinterest inspired craft came in a very timely manner.

Here's what the finished product looked like.

I know! Cute huh??

I've been wanting to do something with this wall since we moved in, because lets face it, it's dull. Actually, dull would be a step up from what it was.

So being the frugal woman that I am , I dusted off my coupon book and headed for the stores. After heading to Home Depot, A.C. Moore, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby, my supply list was complete.

I started with a plain brown shelf, which I sanded down a bit. The self, which I got at A.C Moore, cost me about $6.00. After sanding down the self, I painted it with the first coat, and let it dry overnight. Then the next day, I did the touch ups.

Next I drilled in the knobs. This was the hardest part. I measured, drew lines, even checked to make sure my measurements were correct. It still came out uneven, but I'm not going to fret over it. Too much anyway. I promise, I'm not going to wake up at 2:30 in the morning and stare at it, until ultimately I decide to just start from scratch. That was the old me. The new me loves the imperfections and realizes that the imperfections are what makes it unique and individual to me.

Moving on, once I screwed in the 4 hole ring hangers, I put my Hercules hooks in the wall, and that part was finished.

Next came my earring holder. This is the part I love. That lovely frame that you see on display was originally priced at $46.99. As nice as it is, it wasn't worth 47 bucks. Especially since it was just the frame. No glass and no backing. Luckily the manager on duty realized this and took 50% off. And then, removed an additional 40% since it was one of the redline items. Score!!! This is why I love A.C Moore.

Once I got my frame, I swung by Home Depot and grabbed some insect netting. That ran me about $8.00. After a few unsuccessful attempts at fastening the netting to the back of the frame, I finally ended up just tacking the net to the frame. Then once again, I drilled my 4 hole hooks into the back of the frame and set up my hercules hooks, and viola, project complete...Sorta.

While I was in Michael's I snagged those cute little boxes and pearls that you see on the self. The
boxes were on sale for a couple dollars a pop, and the pearl flowers cost $5.00.

So that was my weekend in a nutsell. Here's an adorable shot of my daughter for the road.

Until next time.

Ever had one of those moments when you have lyrics to a song that you hate stuck in your head? Seriously, it’ll be like the most god-awful song, and you can’t get it out of your head. That’s been me…for the last three days.

For some reason, unbeknownst to me, and the rest of the general population, that annoying song, “Call Me Maybe” has been playing nonstop. On Every. Single. Station. Seriously, it’s on when I wake up. When I’m driving to work. When I’m listening to the radio at work.  And now, to make matters worse, the lyrics have managed to seep into my subconscious.  So at the oddest times I find myself humming the lyrics.  In fact, the entire time I’ve been typing this, I’ve been internally humming the melody. *UGH* I feel like a pregnant woman who’s two weeks past her due date. Get it out of me!!!
Listen to me if you want to hate you life

I thought nothing could top that song “Love” by Keshia Cole. You know the one that sounds as if a wounded water buffalo is howling.  But this song should be the elevator music on the ride down to hell. Can you imagine being subjected to listening to that for all of eternity? It’s enough to drive anyone to sainthood.

Anyhow, to all of my new followers, I swear I’m not always this whinny, but that song is driving me nuts.  So that said, welcome to my little corner of the blogging world. BTW, I know I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my new post, so comment, maybe?

TomKat no more??

Now typically I don't follow celebrity news. I'd like to think that there are more important things going on in the world at any given time. Like say for instance, a man eating another man's face off or the upcoming presidential election. However, I do find the topic of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruises split a wee bit interesting. And by wee bit, I mean thoroughly intriguing. This is mostly because I am a big believer in karma.

As much as I sometime like to believe (especially after watching every episode of Dawsons Creek) I don't personally know Katie. She's not on my speed dial, and we don't go get mani's and pedi's together every weekend. But she strikes me as a sweet,  girl-next-door type. Tom Cruise on the other hand, scares the beejesus out of me. Seriously, the guy thinks aliens are coming back for us...enough said. So if I had to take a  guess as to why she decided to divorce Tom, I would say she probably figured out what the rest of us have discovered already. Her husband is a few fries short of a happy meal.

Let's move on to karma. Most of us who were born before the 90's probably remember the dramatic Tom and Nicole Kidman split. According to Nicole, she was completely blindsided by him filing the papers, two months after they renewed their vows...

Now let's digest that for a second. Two months prior to their divorce, Tom stood across from Nicole, holding her hand and staring lovingly into her eyes, while he pledge to love her forevermore...Probably while he was mentally picking which lawyer he was going to use to ensure that she didn't get a dime of his money when he dropped those papers on her. And they say men can't multitask. Seriously, jerk doesn't quite do Tom justice.  Which is why when papers started reporting how "shocked and appalled" he was about the news, all I could do was laugh.  Payback is a mother... and her name is Katie.

I may not know all the elements on the periodic table. I may not know what the how to calculate standard applications of derivatives, but I do know for a fact that somewhere in Australia, Nicole Kidman is laughing her ass off.

My first giveaway
