You know those commercials that show the new mom looking lovingly at her new babe, effortlessly breastfeeding in a rocking chair in their perfectly coordinated nursery? Of course, their hair and makeup are meticulous, they have no bags under their eyes, and have somehow managed to revert back to their pre-baby weight in two days. Three months into breastfeeding kiddo number two and I can officially tell you that those commercials are nothing like the reality of breastfeeding. Which is how I ended up supplementing with Enfamil NeuroPro™ to help get us through this rough patch.

Breastfeeding is hard. Period. While it can be an incredible bonding experience with your new babe, it can also be incredibly difficult. And I know because I have been there. Twice. This time around I figured it would be much easier. After all I had successfully breastfed Little J for nearly 2 years, breastfeeding Baby J should be a breeze. Right? Wrong.

The first month, I was painfully engorged and produced too much milk. By month two, Baby J had become fixated on one breast and refused to touch the other, which caused serious supply issues. And here we are in month three. My supply has decreased to the point where I have officially had to supplement to keep up with his appetite.

As difficult as the decision to supplement is/was, I'm incredibly thankful Enfamil NeuroPro is there to help get us over the hump. As I said from day one, I have always wanted to provide the best for my kiddos, and while breastfeeding is a wonderful experience, ultimately, fed is best. Enfamil NeuroPro is the FIRST formula that has an exclusive MFGM and DHA blend for brain building benefits similar to those of breast milk* In short, this means that Enfamil NeuroPro is the first formula on the market that has MFGM added as an ingredient. MFGM has been clinically shown to help close the gap in cognitive development between formula-fed and breastfed infants.**

In crunchy mama, baby wearing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering circles, this is HUGE! Supplementing with Enfamil NeuroPro has alleviated an incredible amount of stress (which truthfully was probably one of the BIGGEST causes on my decreasing supply). And getting rid of the stress has allowed me to reset and tackle my decreasing supply head on.

In addition to breastfeeding Baby J, and supplementing with several bottles of formula a day. I've dusted off my breast pump and started pumping several times a day to 'trick' my body into producing more milk. I'm happy to report that in the last week, there has been a noticeable increase in my milk supply. I suspect removing the stress has done the most good. It's removed such a weight off my shoulders and has allowed us to continue living our best lives and enjoying what truly matters. Love, laughter, chubby cheeks and making memories.

So, if you find yourself in a similar predicament, remember that ultimately fed, happy and healthy is best. At the end of the day, you must do what is best for your baby and family.
